The Problem

Solis alarm 1029: PV insulation fault or grounded PV terminal

Solis alarm code 1029 usually means the inverter has detected an insulation issue on the DC side of the solar system or has identified that a PV terminal may be grounded during operation.

Alarm code 1029 may appear as:

  • PvMidIso
  • PVGndRun

When this happens, the inverter may stop producing power or disconnect from the system to protect itself and maintain electrical safety.

This type of fault can sometimes be triggered by temporary moisture during rainy weather, early mornings or periods of high humidity. However, if the alarm keeps returning, it may indicate damaged insulation, deteriorated cabling, moisture ingress, grounding faults, damaged solar panels or a DC wiring issue.

The Solution

Let e-Solar check your inverter and PV insulation

If the alarm appears occasionally during wet weather and clears once conditions improve, the inverter may simply be reacting to a temporary reduction in insulation resistance.

If Solis alarm 1029 keeps returning, it is worth having the system checked. Our Perth-based solar team can inspect the inverter, test insulation resistance and help determine whether the issue is related to moisture, grounding faults, damaged DC cabling, solar panels or wider system conditions.

Contact e-Solar and let us know:

  • The exact error code on the screen or app
  • When the code appears
  • Whether your solar production has dropped
  • Your inverter model, if you know it

Do not attempt to test insulation resistance, disconnect DC wiring or inspect rooftop panels yourself. High-voltage solar systems require specialised equipment and training to diagnose safely.
