SMA Inverter Error Code 301
SMA error 301: Voltage increase protection
SMA inverter error code 301 usually means the grid voltage or grid impedance at the inverter connection point is too high. When this happens, the inverter disconnects from the utility grid to maintain power quality and protect the system.
This does not always mean the inverter itself has failed. It is generally a protective response that prevents the inverter from exporting power when voltage conditions move outside the permitted operating range.
High grid voltage can sometimes occur due to local network conditions, voltage rise from solar export, site wiring issues or wider electricity network behaviour.
Let e-Solar check your inverter and grid voltage
If the code appears once and clears by itself, your inverter may simply be responding to a temporary grid condition. The inverter will usually continue monitoring the grid and resume normal operation once voltage returns to the permitted range.
If SMA error code 301 keeps returning, it is worth having the system checked. Our Perth solar team can inspect the inverter, test voltage at the connection point and help determine whether the issue is linked to grid voltage, grid impedance, inverter settings, AC cabling or wider network conditions.
Contact e-Solar and let us know:
- The exact error code on the screen or app
- When the code appears
- Whether your solar production has dropped
- Your inverter model, if you know it
Do not open the inverter or attempt electrical testing yourself. If the issue is persistent, a qualified technician may need to inspect the switchboard, test the AC supply, review inverter settings and assess whether the issue should be raised with the network provider.
