The Problem

Solis alarm 1012: High grid frequency

Solis alarm code 1012 usually means the inverter has detected that the grid frequency has risen above the permitted operating range. When this happens, the inverter may temporarily stop exporting power to protect the solar system and comply with grid connection requirements.

Alarm code 1012 may appear as:

  • OV-G-F

This is usually not an internal inverter fault. In most cases, the inverter is responding correctly to conditions on the electricity network. Grid frequency can occasionally fluctuate due to changes in electricity supply and demand, generation events or network disturbances.

The inverter will normally reconnect automatically once grid frequency returns to the permitted range.

The Solution

Let e-Solar check your inverter and grid frequency

If the alarm appears once and clears by itself, it may simply be the result of a temporary grid condition. The inverter will usually continue monitoring the grid and resume normal operation automatically when frequency levels return to normal.

If Solis alarm 1012 keeps returning, it is worth having the system checked. Our Perth-based solar team can inspect the inverter, review system settings and help determine whether the issue is related to grid frequency, inverter configuration, AC cabling or wider network conditions.

Contact e-Solar and let us know:

  • The exact error code on the screen or app
  • When the code appears
  • Whether your solar production has dropped
  • Your inverter model, if you know it

Do not open the inverter or attempt electrical testing yourself. If the issue is persistent, a qualified technician may need to review grid frequency data, inspect system wiring and determine whether the issue originates within the property or the wider electricity network.

Solis advises that inverter issues should be handled with safety in mind and that only trained electricians should carry out diagnostic and repair work on solar inverters. Don’t take the risk. Contact e-Solar for safe, local support.
