The Problem

iStore error 2012: String current backfeed

iStore alarm 2012 usually means one solar string is producing a lower voltage than other strings connected in parallel, allowing current to flow back into the affected string.

This can happen when there are fewer solar panels connected in series on one string, when part of the array is heavily shaded, or when there is a fault causing abnormal string voltage.

The alarm may relate to PV1 or PV2, depending on which string has been affected.

This is not considered normal operation and may result in reduced solar production or potential damage to system components if the underlying issue is not corrected.

The Solution

Contact e-Solar before resetting the system

If iStore alarm 2012 appears, do not continue resetting the inverter without understanding why the fault is occurring.

Our Perth solar team can inspect the solar strings, compare string voltages and help determine whether the issue is linked to shading, panel configuration, string design, damaged panels or another system fault.

Contact e-Solar and let us know:

  • The exact error code on the screen or app
  • When the code appears
  • Whether your solar production has dropped
  • Your inverter model, if you know it

Do not disconnect solar strings or inspect rooftop components yourself. A qualified technician may need to test string voltages, inspect panel performance and confirm the array is operating safely and correctly. If you’re unsure, don’t risk it. Contact e-Solar for safe, local support.
